On my way to find some grub tonight I paused by the Spire – a 400 ft tall monument in Dublin – to gaze at the incredible double rainbow. While trying to get a snapshot with my phone I heard a friendly voice ask if I wanted some help. “Sure,” I accepted and took the pose.
While she was taking my picture I noticed that this stranger was wearing a Purdue pullover of all things, so I gave a hearty “Boiler up!” and made a new friend. Carolyn lived in Carmel before Lafayette and Caty was from Texas but they were visiting Dublin during a study break from their university in England.
We ended up walking around the city together and chatting about the U.S., the Midwest, and Europe like expats tend to do and a good time was had by all. Small world!
